There is just one week to go until the famous and fabulous Guineas Meeting at Newmarkets very own Rowley Mile Race course. Newmarket has been the home of racing since King Charles II ran the first race in Britain here in 1665, then The Pantry came along in 2011 to add to your race day pleasure!
We are an independent restaurant and wine bar tucked away on the edge of The Guineas Shopping Centre. We specialise in locally sourced British cuisine, Vincent our head chef and my hubby is also classically trained in French and Italian cooking so there are often few influences on our specials board. Here is just a bit about we offer…
Breakfast and Brunch
There is always a great buzz in the mornings, we are open from 8am for the early birds and serve brunch until 12pm. You can start your day with a hearty brunch including our Pantry breakfast or something a little more elegant such as Bottisham Smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. We are fully licenced so you can enjoy a glass of champagne with your brunch to get you in the mood.
Lunch to have in or to go!
We are the ideal location for lunch before the races, you can choose from light dishes and snacks such as sandwiches and salads or you can dine from our full menu with options on our specials board too.
If you like to partake in the tradition of a car park picnic, then we can take the hassle away from you and provide food for you including local cheese and cured meat selections, sandwiches, pates, salads, pork pies, sausage rolls, scones, brownies. Please try to give 2 days notice for take away orders.
Due to the Guineas Meeting and the May bank holiday we are pleased to announce that in addition to our usual evening opening hours we are open on the evening of Sunday the 4th of May.
The Pantry is a fantastic place to dine after the races as we transform from the busting day time trade into a more cosy bistro and wine bar in the evening. We are open through out the day and take orders put to 10pm so you can head down for an early meal or drink at the bar or you can book for a later table if that suits your plans better.
Our customers love our tucked away location, as it is away from the hustle of the high street which is particularly lively on race days! It also has great access to St. Mary’s square and The Guineas shopping Centre car park.
New Wines for the Spring
We are introducing some fantastic new wines this week which our wine merchant Gil from Corney and Barrow will be guest blogging about, so watch this space!
Our cocktails made with quality locally produced spirits have been going down a storm since our cocktail menu was launched last summer. Our list is made up of classics such as Old fashioned, Belini’s and some very special creations by Adam our head barman including the Cherry Bake well martini. Cocktails at the bar make a great addition to you evening dining experience with us, alternatively feel free to drop by just for a drink.
Bookings are advisable, evening for breakfast during peak times such as Guineas Weekend; at least you will beat the rush and have peace of mind that you have a table. Please feel free to call us on 01638 661181 or email us firstname.lastname@example.org.
We hope to see you soon!
